What are the rules regarding thank you notes from the bride & groom?

Just checking the modern etiquette!! The bride and groom were married in the summer and no thank you notes have been sent...we personally don't really care, but maybe some might, especially the grandparents who were far more generous than normal..any
Most people believe they have a year to send them. But waiting that long is in really bad taste.
My husband and I are "old school", if we don't get thank yous for the wedding presents, don't bother inviting us to house warmings,

i think we forgot to send our thank you notes out too. we made half of them and then never finished so if anyone is reading this fromt he wedding THANK YOU for the gift.
and if i were to give you an answer i would say modern day etiquette says
